Adele Bruno`s IAST#200 with her new tangle C-Perfs

This week Adele Bruno is celebrating the 200th anniversary of her IAST (It`s a String Thing) Challenge!
It is a weekly challenge and that means, that this challenge has been existing for almost 4 years, with many participants from all over the world every week and with a great success.
I remember #100 and #150 and realize how the time is running.
Zentangle became a very important part in my daily life and I can not imagine to miss it.
Congratulaton, Adele, and a big Thankyou for all the efforts on your "Tickled To Tangle" blog!
For this challenge Adele published her tangle "C-Perfs", a very simple one , with lots of possibilities. Lovely!

This is my contribution to IAST#200, based on Adeles special and beautiful string which she posted here

Here I played a bit with C-Perfs in my calendar:

During the last days I had a little time for my calendar, which has some empty pages in June, unfortunately. Hopefully I can continue it from now on...
I tried some new tangles, I enjoyed it very much!

DC#321 "Non Dominant- Aura Challenge"

This week`s challenge is a double challenge.
The task is to create a tile with an aura tangle ant to daw it with our non dominant hand .

This is an interesting challenge for me. Which is my non dominant hand? Difficult to say.

Normally, I am left handed. Most normal things I do with the left hand: playing badminton, tennis, bowling, tooth brushing and similar things.... using tools like a hammer or a drill and knives, needles...

But all things you need special left hander- tools for (scissors, music instruments) I use the right hand.
And when I was a child it was usual to train left handers to write with the "right" hand, to eat "right" .
So I am fifty:fifty handed ;-)
Normally I draw right handed, but for shading I use both hands: pencil in the one, torillon in the other hand ...

So this time I drew consequently with my left hand. Interesting was, that I was more focussed and drew much more slowly than with the right one. 'Especially for the auras I needed some extra concentration to get them...
So I had a very intensive drawing experience- thanks, Laura!!
The result looks like Auraknot, but I did not draw Auraknot!! I started with Tripoli and added inner auras and lateron I added outer aura lines like Arukas... Very interesting as well !!

DC #319 (BEad inspired)) and #320 (UMT Dansk), and travelling tiles

I am back at home from my holidays and I have stumbeled in my daily life again.

During my holidays I did some tangling but not as much as I am used to do and so I am looking forward to draw a bit more during the next weeks. Only the last three days since we came home were horribly packed with things....
My first blogpost after the holidays is collecting some tiles I started on my knees, at the beach or within some breaks.
As I do not miss a DIVA challenge I finished that one which I started last week yesterday.
"Beads of Courage" is an arts in medicine program that helps children with chronic or life threatening illness tell the story of their medical journey.

This is my second participation at a "Beads of Courage" - challenge.
I had only a black and pink pen and a pencil when I drew this tile, but I had a tile with a stripe of Washi tape representing the word "LOVE"... so I decided that this was the perfect background for this challenge, because Love is the greatest gift we can give to the children and especially to thos who have to fight against illness.

This Monday the DIVA started the next UMT (Use My Tangle) challenge.
This week she chose the tangle "Dansk" which was created by Margaret Bremner, a Canadian CZT I admire a lot.
As if I knew it before I drew during my last days at the Sea a tile where I used "Dansk". I finished it yesterday, just right to post it here for the DIVA Challenge.
I combined "Dansk" with some "Verve", "Sandswirl" and "Namaste".

I would like to show some travelling tiles, which I swapped with Sabrina Stein, CZT.

Those two she sent me and I finished them:

And these two were started by myself and finished by Sabrina.
I gave her the "challenge" to use Washi tape prepared tiles. I was curious what she will create with them... Look, it`s so cute:

I am really happy with the results of all these tiles and hat a lot of fun. Thank you so much, Sabrina!!

My calendar project a lot of empty spaces meanwhile as it is really very time consuming.I hope to create some more daily tangles during the next weeks .
Here is my latest complete calendar page:

Some more holiday tangles

During the last days I  continued my experiments with washi tape on Zentangle tiles.
The first results I published here on my blog.
It is an interesting thing to combine the patterns of the tapes with the tangles or even to use the tapes as strings.
I used vey different types of tapes and surely will continue this because I have a lot of fun with this technique.

On this tile I used the tape as stencil before coloring the tile
And removed the tape before drawing

DC318: Diptych, and some of my holiday tangles

What an interesting DIVA Challenge this week!! We should draw a diptych tangle this week!
I saw such tles already on the Zentangle homepage but I did not try one until now.
This is one reason wh I love to take part at EVERY DIVA challenge... there is so much new to explore and to learn what I would never think about...

As basic tangle I used "2V" , a very new one from Linda Farmers page

During my recent holidays, which we spend in South France I have some time to tangle in the evenings or at the beach.
Last week we visited the ancient Pope Palace in Avignon. There I saw .... tangles, tangles...everywhere!!

One highlight were some floor tiles from the 15th century. I took some photos and drew the patterns of the tiles as fragments in my calendar. Look... all three days are created this way, what a beautiful reminder to my holidays!

As I have been asked for , I created a stepout for the middle one and called it "AVI" :

Here are some fotos of the original tiles from the palace:

Some more holida tangles and my experiments with the washi tapes youcan read here on my next post

DIVA Challenge #317:Photo Tangles and Tangle Mosaic #8

This week`s task of the DIVA Challenge is to combine a photo with tangles.

I spend my holidays in South France and we visited Pont du Gard yesterday. It is the world greatest Aquäduct which has been built by the Romans about 2000 years ago. It was used as a water pipe to the city of Nimes.
This bridge is a stunning building! It goes over the river Gordon, where you can rent a  canoe and explore the bridge from the waterside. As the temperatures are rather high this week (30°C) this 8km canoe tour was fun, indeed!
I think it is a good occasion to show you the beauty of Pont du Gard in the Diva Challenge:
I created two tiles, one tangled in black and one coloured

And here you see a photo of our canoe tour:

During the last days I drew the tiles for Annettes beautiful Mosaic Project, where anybody can take part until May, 31st. This time Annette has created a lovely string which should bee coloured in Green as a symbol of Springtime in May.

These are my contributions to Mosaic Project #8. I am looking forward to seeing the final Mosaic, which Annette will publish in June..

DC#316 String Theory: Stripes

This week the DIVA challenged us to use stripes as string for a tile.
I combined this with an idea which I had some weeks ago and started to realize this week:
I use tapes as "strings" on my tiles.

For this tile I used white tapes and striped a black tile black/ white. Finally, I drew on the pale tape and on the black area. I need to exercise this some more...

I used the tangles Printemps (ZT), Drogon (Lily Moon), Shattuck (ZT), MySwing (my own) and Munchin (ZT)

I tried the tape technique on a black 3Z tile, and I will continue this series next time:

I am a little delayed with my calendar, I will show you the last days within my next post.
I wish you all a lovely weekend!!

Spoken- the New Original Tangle and Preparation for Holidays....

Some days ago the Zentangle Headquarter published a beautiful new tangle with lots of possible variations . I like that tangle very much and tried a tile in my favourite colours:

Some days before our holidays are beginning I went to a shopping center to buy some things.
Some of the clothes were wrapped in tissue paper with wonderful patterns on it.

Last night I tangeled them in my calendar. I do not know yer if I ever go to deconstruct them in Zentangle way and if I am going to draw stepouts, but it was very funny to do that.

Here is the complete calendar page of the last three days:

DC#315 Tangle Study: Molygon

Last weekend the Rick and Maria published another "Kitchen Table Tangle" - Video on the Mosaic App. Molygon is a versatile tangle which opens lots of variations.
The DIVA challenged us this week to draw a monotangle with Molygon.

I decided to draw a simple, symmetrical tile. This is my result:

In my calendar I tried another very simple Molygon study.
And today Linda Farmer published Trefoil by Judy Okawa on her website.

Last week I drew some Reticula and Fragments in my calendar and gave the new tangle by Zentangle HQ, which has been published in the last newsletter a try.  SPOKEN is lovely ... but it needs some more training ... I am going to draw it again next time.

Last but not least I show you a tile which I drew as a birthday card for my Mom.
I used my own tangles MySwing and Praa in combination with the Roses in C.R. Macintosh style which I love so much.

IAST#193 For Lily

Two weeks ago our adored Zentangle friend Lily Moon told us in a moving blogpost about her daughter who is sick with cancer and about the difficult timesshe has to cope with her family.
It makes me so sad and angry to read that a mother has to accept such a hard reality and has no chance to help..
The Zentangle community tries to give her the feeling not to be alone and to give her the strength to cope this situation.
Adele Bruno decided to  dedicate the IAST challenge to Lily this week. She created a lovely string with the first letters of Lilys name and proposed to use some of Lilys tangles.
Thank you, Adele, for this beautiful challenge!

I have never written such thoughts in English and I can only hope that I can express my mind sufficiently.

I drew the tile yesterday and during the whole time my thoughts were with Lily. I drew some black as a symbol for the hard times, but more bright rose colour with hearts as a symbol of  Love ❤️

I used Reel,  Drogon and Lily`s Valentine

In my calendar, I started the new month with Reticula and Fragments...
When I think of the first part of this blogpost it is absolutely unimportant ;-(

DC#314 - UMT "Scallamps" and Some Delayed Calendar Tangles

Last Monday was the first one in May, so we have another "UMT" Challenge.
This time the DIVA chose "Scallamps" by Sarah Uram.
This tangle was absolutely new to me and I love such challenges... I had a lot of fun tonight with Scallamps. Look:

Furthermore I have tangeled during the last week some delayed tiles in my calendar. Now I am up to date again...
I tangeled lots of patterns which were new to me and enjoyed it much.
But I realize more and more that the calendar project takes a lot of time.
I am not sure if I can continue it during the summer time...

DC#313- Amanda Day, and a first try of "Dingbatz"

Last Saturday was Earth Day. The DIVA`s sun gave our Earth the lovely name Amanda and this is already my third Amanda Day to take part in the DIVA Challenge! And I am sure there will follow some...

This year I decided to use a Renaissance Zendala tile and tried to draw some trees in Zentangle style.
I did not like it much before shadowing but finally I like it, anyway... And I enjoyed it very much to tangle, after a some days break.

In their last "Kitchen Table Tangle" - video Rick&Maria introduced the technique to draw small decorative ornaments in Zentangle style and named them "Dingbatz".
Today I tried the first ones. They are so cute.... probably they are addictive ;-)

With my calendar I am much behind the scenes. Probably I will leave off some days and add them later. No stress!!

DC#312 - Tea String - and new Tangle PRAA

For the DIVA Challenge I used English Breakfast Tea to create a string - I dripped it on the paper and used the spots as the background for my new tangle "PRAA".

I got the inspiration for PRAA during a walk on the Cornwall Coast Path, on the cliffs along the sea, and there were loads of beautiful blossoms. The shape of one of them reminded me of tangles , the new , fresh lplant, but the dry residues of the last year as well.
Later in the evening I played with this flowers and found an easy way to deconstruct it as a tangle.I named it PRAA, as our holiday home is situated in the village Praa Sands, directly at the Southwest Coast Path.

Here is a page from my calendar, where I did the first steps with PRAA:

And, just in case that anyone will give it a try... here is a stepout for PRAA:

Last, but not least I show you the plant, which inspired me for PRAA:
The German name is "Bärenklau" , in English "hogweed".
