DIVA Challenge #328- "Aloha" and Lonetta`s Mosaic Project TMP#9

Another week with a Guest Blogger on DIVAS Blog... This week Suzanne Fluhr challenged us to create a Monotangle, using her tangle "Aloha".
What a lovely tangle- powerful with high contrast and space for lots of variations...

I had once more the experience of the flow while tangling. I started with a curved line and the first leaves without any idea about the final result. I decided step by step about the next strokes, the colours and the fillings inside.
I felt very relaxed and creative and I love the result!

My second tangle project during the last days was the tile for Annettes Tangle Mosaic Project (TMP#9).
I am absolutely impressed by Annettes Mosaic creations. She gives the string and the rules how to fill them, many tanglers draw and send her the tiles and she creates mosaics by combining them.
The results are amazing and I will not miss any of these wonderful projects.

This time the string is one Cubine fragment to fill.
These are my contributions to TMP#9. The second one is my favourite ;-)

The first one... "quick and dirty" with Bales, Emingle and some Tipple

The second one with "Wells"  as fragment and much more detail work.

DC#327- The DIVA Dancing in Lisbon

This week the DIVA Challenge was presented by German CZT Henrike Bratz.

Henrike spent some days in Lisbon and was excited about the lots of tiles with beautiful patterns. I have not been there yet, but I saw similar beauties in Barcelona and I know how a tangler feels among this lots of patterns...
No wonder, that Henrike drew the patterns and deconstructed some.

In her guest post she presented her Fragment "Lisbon" and challenged us to combine it with DIVA Dance.

What a beautiful idea for this weekly challenge - thank you so much, Henrike! I am looking forward to meet you in October!!

This is my conribution for "The DIVA dancing in Lisbon"  (I love that title!!!!)

This was my first decision to have finshed the tile last night. Today I felt it too "fade" and filled the spaces. No idea which one is better, I like them both ;-)

Here is a "late" tile for the last DIVA Challenge (#326).
As `Nzeppel is one of my Mac`n cheese tangles I tried some more.
This one I like because of the powerful colours (created with Inktense pencils and some washing)
The tangle is drawn with curved lines, as it were  " `Nzeppel random curved "...

DC#326 - `Nzeppel Monotangle and a beautiful Zentangle day

This week guest blogger Eliza Murphy published the DIVA Challenge.
She asked us to draw monotangles of `Nzeppel which is one of my absolute favourites.

She wrote interesting words about the issue "not fitting in" . I know such situations very well.

I decided for a Zendala tile which I had prepared some weeks ago for another DIVA challenge.
I prepared a string with black tea.
My `Nzeppel on this tile different from the standard tangle, but nevertheless I am sure nobody will say "it does not fit" ;-)

CZT Summit "G2" in Dresden  (much more peaceful than G20)

Last friday I had a beautiful day with a CZT friend from Berlin. Sabrina is the CZT next to me and I am very happy to know her.

She visited me in Dresden and we spent some hours tangling, talking, laughing...and even a little geocaching.  The time hurried...

Some weeks before she asked me to tangle something into a pictrure frame which she sent me.
Of course I used one of my own tangles "Praa" and my special version of the Macintosh- roses.
I like this little piece myself and was very happy to see that Sabrina liked it as well:

What did we do the whole day?

We had the idea to try together the new "transzendig" technique.I decided for "Umble" over "Spoken"
So I prepared the tile with "Spoken":

and added a complete layer of "Umble" on top.

For my opinion this example shows, how this technique does NOT work very well. The black lines are much too havy and the whole tile is too busy and overloaded. Absolutely no transzending ;-(
So... this is my experience of "It does not fit in" .
First I wanted to throw the tile away and did not want to show it, but I think possibly it is helpful to see also some "Nogo" examples ... why not?

Back to some nice tiles:

Sabrina showed me her experiences with tangling on grey tiles - the possibility to highlight with white (like renaissance) but without brown.... the colours are glowing literally on the grey.
And she showed me how to draw beautiful Zengems. I did not draw very much of them before and was curious how it works.
We drew some Zengems and tested some different pens and colours.
Here is one example of our "hard work"

Zengems created with Inktense ink pencils (watercolour ink)

Lateron I tried another tile with Zengems in pink on grey paper

Zengems created with Prismacolour pencils (dry blended)

and the next day I was in the mood to create a multicoloured tile

some perfs with Inktense, some with Prismacolour

Sabrina drew a little MySwing tile for me and I gave her some hints how I draw it in detail.
I am so happy to see this tile , isn`t that lovely?

Last not least I give you a small insight about the creative atmosphere, we call it "creative chaos"..

Finally, after nearly 9 hours, we were tired, but happy. Thank you so much, Sabrina, for that beautiful day! I am looking forward to see you again.

Oh yes, we need to practise taking selfies...

DC#325- "Pea-nuckle" and some more tangles

DIVA Challenge #325 has been created by guest blogger Jessica Davies again.

This week she asked us to draw the tangle "Pea-nuckle" from Molly Hollibaugh.
This was a real challenge for me!
Jessica described in her post how she drew this tangle for the first time and how she needed some tries to like it and to love it.
I must admit, that I feel similarly after my first try- not as much satisfied ;-) , but I am still motivated to give Pea- nuckle a new chance .

We have a German Facebook- group of tanglers where we run also a weekly "challenge", which is named something like "weekly playing around with tangles".
This week`s theme is to use the own signature as a string.
I combined this one with DC#235 and drew my SM signature with a bit of Pea- nuckle:

This tile I started some month ago. I prepared it for DC#312 . I used some English Breakfast Tea to create my string. Yesterday I found this tile in my diary and finished it.

DIVA Challenge#324: Tangeled Heart and a new Zendala tile

This and the next weeks the DIVA spends her holidays.
But no holidays for the DIVA Challenge!! She ordered some guest bloggers withe their beautiful ideas to continue the weekly challenge until the DIVA will be back on her blog.
What a nice idea.

This week Jessica Davies came along with hearts.... (Outside of Valentines season!!)
We should use a heart shape as a string.
And she told us that she loves pink. Oh wow... I love pink as well! Who is following my blog regularly, knows that!
I decided for a simple heart shape and divided it into black/white at the middle line of MySwing.
In the background I drew Emingle.

Finally, the result looks like Yin/Yang. Love is sometimes black and white (more white, of course) and sometimes simply pink!

My second tile on this blogpost is a Zendala tile whih I drew without any intention, without challenge, no calendar, no duty...
I have not drawn on a Renaissance tile for a while and had a nice evenng with it: I used an Original Zendala tile, prestrung, and tangeled Paradox, Crescent moon and Tint.

DC#323-"Home" and some calendar pages

Last week was Canada Day, the 150th. Congratulations!
This inspired the DIVA to this week`s challenge: HOME. She wrote on her blog :

" And while Canada celebrates this BIG birthday, and my American friends celebrate their independence , think about what YOU love about YOUR home"

I admit, that I needed some days to answer this question for myself and to find an idea how to bring it on a Zentangle tile.
The idea came totally unexpected, when some collegues from our Headquarter (about 700km away) visited our company and we showed them our city of Dresden on Thusday.
That evening I realized, that I am very proud of my City where I lived my whole life.
There are so many beauties in Dresden to show.... but how to tangle????

Another unexpected situation, same evening: When I went home by tram I saw a city plan with the tram lines and suddenly found my idea:

This is a part of the City Map of Dresden with the river ELBE. I used the river, the bridges and the great streets as strings... and had fun with it!

During the last two weeks I was successful to fill my Zentangle calendar regularly.
found lots of tangles which are new to me.

Today is the birthday of my loved daughter. I drew the roses for you, my dear Linda!

DC#322- "Trying Aquafleur" and something more

This week the DIVA challenged us to use the original ZT tangle "Aquafleur". This tangle was one of the very first I met at the beginning of my tangling life. I am sure you can imagine that I was not really successful at that time... so I lost it from my focus for a long time. Thank you, Laura Harms, for this motivation to try it again... and what an inspiration!
I decided for a (nearly) monotangle, and hat a beautiful time with it. I added some Printemps in graphite and a Florz background.

This tangle I started after I saw a beautful tangle by Rick Roberts in the Zentangle Mosaic App. He was inspired by Emi during the last CZT seminar in Providence.
I do not know the name of the tangle in the upper right side , but I liked it and tried it with a zipper effect ... all the other tangles , Shattuck, Verve, Tipple.... came along when I came in the flow...

Last but not least I would like to show you what Annette (aka Lonetta) sent me last week.
It is a tangle Mosaic which she created out of my three contribution tiles to her Tangle Mosaic Project #8 . If you follow the link you can find the complete mosaic of all contributions. Awesome!!

Adele Bruno`s IAST#200 with her new tangle C-Perfs

This week Adele Bruno is celebrating the 200th anniversary of her IAST (It`s a String Thing) Challenge!
It is a weekly challenge and that means, that this challenge has been existing for almost 4 years, with many participants from all over the world every week and with a great success.
I remember #100 and #150 and realize how the time is running.
Zentangle became a very important part in my daily life and I can not imagine to miss it.
Congratulaton, Adele, and a big Thankyou for all the efforts on your "Tickled To Tangle" blog!
For this challenge Adele published her tangle "C-Perfs", a very simple one , with lots of possibilities. Lovely!

This is my contribution to IAST#200, based on Adeles special and beautiful string which she posted here

Here I played a bit with C-Perfs in my calendar:

During the last days I had a little time for my calendar, which has some empty pages in June, unfortunately. Hopefully I can continue it from now on...
I tried some new tangles, I enjoyed it very much!

DC#321 "Non Dominant- Aura Challenge"

This week`s challenge is a double challenge.
The task is to create a tile with an aura tangle ant to daw it with our non dominant hand .

This is an interesting challenge for me. Which is my non dominant hand? Difficult to say.

Normally, I am left handed. Most normal things I do with the left hand: playing badminton, tennis, bowling, tooth brushing and similar things.... using tools like a hammer or a drill and knives, needles...

But all things you need special left hander- tools for (scissors, music instruments) I use the right hand.
And when I was a child it was usual to train left handers to write with the "right" hand, to eat "right" .
So I am fifty:fifty handed ;-)
Normally I draw right handed, but for shading I use both hands: pencil in the one, torillon in the other hand ...

So this time I drew consequently with my left hand. Interesting was, that I was more focussed and drew much more slowly than with the right one. 'Especially for the auras I needed some extra concentration to get them...
So I had a very intensive drawing experience- thanks, Laura!!
The result looks like Auraknot, but I did not draw Auraknot!! I started with Tripoli and added inner auras and lateron I added outer aura lines like Arukas... Very interesting as well !!

DC #319 (BEad inspired)) and #320 (UMT Dansk), and travelling tiles

I am back at home from my holidays and I have stumbeled in my daily life again.

During my holidays I did some tangling but not as much as I am used to do and so I am looking forward to draw a bit more during the next weeks. Only the last three days since we came home were horribly packed with things....
My first blogpost after the holidays is collecting some tiles I started on my knees, at the beach or within some breaks.
As I do not miss a DIVA challenge I finished that one which I started last week yesterday.
"Beads of Courage" is an arts in medicine program that helps children with chronic or life threatening illness tell the story of their medical journey.

This is my second participation at a "Beads of Courage" - challenge.
I had only a black and pink pen and a pencil when I drew this tile, but I had a tile with a stripe of Washi tape representing the word "LOVE"... so I decided that this was the perfect background for this challenge, because Love is the greatest gift we can give to the children and especially to thos who have to fight against illness.

This Monday the DIVA started the next UMT (Use My Tangle) challenge.
This week she chose the tangle "Dansk" which was created by Margaret Bremner, a Canadian CZT I admire a lot.
As if I knew it before I drew during my last days at the Sea a tile where I used "Dansk". I finished it yesterday, just right to post it here for the DIVA Challenge.
I combined "Dansk" with some "Verve", "Sandswirl" and "Namaste".

I would like to show some travelling tiles, which I swapped with Sabrina Stein, CZT.

Those two she sent me and I finished them:

And these two were started by myself and finished by Sabrina.
I gave her the "challenge" to use Washi tape prepared tiles. I was curious what she will create with them... Look, it`s so cute:

I am really happy with the results of all these tiles and hat a lot of fun. Thank you so much, Sabrina!!

My calendar project a lot of empty spaces meanwhile as it is really very time consuming.I hope to create some more daily tangles during the next weeks .
Here is my latest complete calendar page:

Some more holiday tangles

During the last days I  continued my experiments with washi tape on Zentangle tiles.
The first results I published here on my blog.
It is an interesting thing to combine the patterns of the tapes with the tangles or even to use the tapes as strings.
I used vey different types of tapes and surely will continue this because I have a lot of fun with this technique.

On this tile I used the tape as stencil before coloring the tile
And removed the tape before drawing

DC318: Diptych, and some of my holiday tangles

What an interesting DIVA Challenge this week!! We should draw a diptych tangle this week!
I saw such tles already on the Zentangle homepage but I did not try one until now.
This is one reason wh I love to take part at EVERY DIVA challenge... there is so much new to explore and to learn what I would never think about...

As basic tangle I used "2V" , a very new one from Linda Farmers page

During my recent holidays, which we spend in South France I have some time to tangle in the evenings or at the beach.
Last week we visited the ancient Pope Palace in Avignon. There I saw .... tangles, tangles...everywhere!!

One highlight were some floor tiles from the 15th century. I took some photos and drew the patterns of the tiles as fragments in my calendar. Look... all three days are created this way, what a beautiful reminder to my holidays!

As I have been asked for , I created a stepout for the middle one and called it "AVI" :

Here are some fotos of the original tiles from the palace:

Some more holida tangles and my experiments with the washi tapes youcan read here on my next post
