New tangle "TULIPA" just before the Easter Holidays

(Hint from March, 2020: New Stepout and more examples can be found here)

Last Friday I run a Zentangle - masterclass "organic patterns" in Dresden
I prepared three several tiles for my students to draw and I was curious about the results. During the preparation I realized that organic patterns are different to teach than graphic ones. There are much less "rules" to follow and every student can get in the flow of its own creativity.

I was blown away when I saw the results! All ten students gave me the feedback that they liked this process and I was happy that they were happy ;-)

This one was the first tile: I decided for an Easter greeting card with Easter eggs (a variation of "Jetties") Flux and Mooka as grass where the eggs hide away, and some tulips in the center.

We colored the eggs and the tulips with watercolor pencils and a water tank brush.

The next day I posted these tiles on Instagram and received lots of positive comments and even some drawings of Easter cards with the tulips!
Especially Anya Ipsen, my classmate and friend from my CZT#23. in Providence, sent me two lovely tiles with small variations (the little swing at the open bulbs) which are so lovely that I asked her if I might use it for my tangle TULIPA.
She agreed. Thank you, Anya, for this lovely idea!

And this is the step out for TULIPA.
I realized, that I have never seen a similar tangle, it is very simple but I love the possibility of variations. You can draw small bulbs , still closed, as well as tulips which are already open...
You can tangle them in natural style (like above) and as a fragment which reminds me to Art Deco.
I am going to play around with tulips during my Easter holidays, but I wanted to show you this patterns with my best wishes for a Happy Easter to you all!

This are the other two tiles from my class :
A very organic one with Poa (Marion Kreuzweg), Henna Drum (Jane Mac Kugler) and MySwing (mine).
I am so sorry that I cut the tile below.... but I do not have another foot, unfortunately.

The third tile is a Zendala with Ruutz (Eni Oken) and Crazy 'Nzeppel. We tried to find some flowers in the center....and we did!

Thank you for stopping by, have fun with TULIPA and Happy Easter!

Zendala Moments #3, DC#387 and Patternator App and Black Class

Zendala Moments #3

This is my contribution to Annette Plage-Loddes "Zendala Moments #3" .
I am a bit late with it. I was very busy during the last weeks and had only little time for tangling "just for fun". I was busy with other creative things like preparation for my next Zentangle class which I will run this Friday in Dresden.
For this Zendala I used fineliners by Faber Castell in Cobalt Green, May Green and Indanthrene Blue.
Shaded with Faber Castell Polychromos and the outside border colored with Ecoline Brush pens.

DIVA Challenge DC#387 : "UMT - HaWy by Holly Atwater CZT"

HaWy was not an easy one- it needed a lot of concentration to draw this tangle, but after two or three failed sketches I got it and this is the result:

The "Patternator" App

By mistake I found a link to the I Phone App "Patternator" - it is a treasure to mix Zentangle Tiles and to create large patterns by combination of single tiles . Look at this, for example:

This is another page I created with the Patternator App. I used a very small Bijou tile with one single pattern of Madama by Marguerite Samara, CZT.

This is the result with Patternator. I LOVE it!!!

Zentangle Black Class

In March, I run a Zentangle Black class. This is a 3Ztile from the class preparation (we drew another one in the class, see below). T tile is very simple, but as mosaic very elegant:

I am waiting for my students in the beautiful class room in the little house called "Menschenreich" in Dresden. All preparation is done and I am looking forward to a beautiful Saturday:

Look at the results of my class. I am proud of my students!
First tile: The first letter of each one's first name. I prepared them with gold on a black tile.
We created embedded letters with white Gelly rolls and added some white with Zenstones. Then we tangled with black on the white...

Second tile: similar technique like the first one. In the center a black/white Zengem.

Mosaic of 3Z tiles. Basic tangle is "Well". We used white Gelly Rolls and added red/ pink Gelly Roll Moonlight.
The Highlightswe created with red/pink charcoal pencils.

CZTclasses, Zendala Moments#2 and DC#386

Last weekend I run two Zentangle classes with beautiful and very talented students.
Some of them told me before that they are looking forward to the nameplates from class to class and so I have a lot of fun to create them - appropriate to the lessons.
The first class was about Zengems and the second we created Zenbuttons and I teached a bit about fragments
the nameplates with Zengems and fragments

Ratoon with a Zengem in the center

a firework of colors - beautiful gems!
Zenbuttons in pink on renaissance tiles
Zenbuttons with letters in the outer circle

The idea of Zenbuttons comes from Marguerite Samama, CZT from the Netherlands. And she had also the idea to create letters as fragments and to play with them around.
Some of you may know that I love the Art Nouveau letters of C.R. Macintosh - I used them for these Zenbuttons. And later I created  large Zenbuttons with alphabets - and YESS- I love them!!

 Zendala Moments#2

This is my Zendala for Anettes "Zendala Moments#2" - What a beautiful string Anette created - simple and elegant in my opinion! I loved the process of tangling this Zendala:

DIVA Challenge#386

This was just the right challenge for me: Finish an abandoned tile ...
I have DOZENS of them in my little "Box of not yet finished tiles" ... just chose two of them and finished:
It is so interesting to see tiles finished which I have put away because did not like before ;-)
An it is obvious that nearly every tile has to get the chance to be finished...

Both tiles I finished with the tangle
